Wondering what is wordpress? WordPress, according to Wikipedia, is a “web content management system”.

Others like WordPress.org say it’s an “open source software”. In a simplified way of describing it, it is a tool that can be used to post website content.

An important point (to me) that maybe should be mentioned is that there are 2 types of WordPress. The first type of WordPress is WordPress.ORG. The other type is WordPress.COM. Notice the difference is .org vs .com. If you are reading about a commonly used “WordPress” that is free, etc., it is generally referring to WordPress.ORG. Although it may come across as free, they do not include hosting. You may still have to search for a hosting provider and pay them a monthly fee in order to have a website that is Live.

My point in bringing that up is that when I mentioned “blogging capabilites”, that is directly tied in with the acronym of CMS (Content Management System). As in, if you are looking to publish content online, such as blogs, WordPress may be of help since it is a system that can help you manage content (Content Management System a.k.a. CMS).

If you are not tech saavy and having to build one on your own, possibly consider a drag ‘n’ drop builder of some sort. Companies like Wix, or Squarespace, generally have drag ‘n’ drop builder functions built-in. It is maybe worth mentioning that if you are looking to reap the benefits of WordPress, then you may want to use a company that can provide WordPress with some sort of drag ‘n’ drop ability.
